Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a scheme launched by the Government of India with the aim of providing access to banking services to all citizens of India. This scheme was launched by the Prime Minister on 28th August 2014 across the country for financial inclusion. This scheme was announced on 15 August 2014. The main objective of this scheme is to provide banking services such as savings accounts, loans, insurance, and pensions to every household in the country, thereby providing affordable access to financial services to all candidates.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a continuous financial inclusion mission, so there is no set deadline to apply. You can open an account at any bank branch or Bank Mitra to benefit from this scheme. This scheme is a permanent initiative to connect the underprivileged with financial services, you can join this scheme anytime.

Eligibility Criteria

• This scheme is for all the citizens of the country, especially those who are deprived of the banking system.
• Preference is given to opening an account in the name of a female member of the family, but any individual can open an account.

Benefits

• There is no minimum balance required to open the account, it can be opened with zero balance.
• Interest is earned on the amount deposited in the account.
• Eligible account holders get a life insurance cover of Rs 30,000/-
• Benefits received under government schemes come directly into this account.
• Access to cheque books, ATM/Debit cards, mobile banking, internet banking and pension/insurance products.
• OD limit from Rs. 5,000/- to Rs. 10,000/- and
• Accidental insurance cover on RuPay card holders from Rs.1 lakh to Rs.2 lakhs.
• Money can be sent and received easily across India.

Required Documents

• Aadhaar Card
• Government ID Card (Voter Card/PAN Card/Ration Card)
• Proof of Permanent Address (Passport/Driving License/Electricity Bill/Telephone Bill/Water Bill)
• Passport-sized Photograph
• Filled and signed PMJDY account opening form
• Any other document notified by the Central Government in consultation with the regulator.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) Form 2026: How to Apply

• Visit your nearest bank branch (such as SBI, PNB, Bank of Baroda, etc.) or a Bank Mitra (Business Correspondent).
• Get the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account opening form from there.
• Fill in your personal details in the Applictionform, such as name, address, date of birth, mobile number, and nominee details.
• Attach the required documents (Aadhaar Card and Other official documents (if Aadhaar is not available):
• Voter ID Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, NREGA Card) to prove your identity and address.
• Submit the completed form and documents to the bank official.
