Eligibility Criteria
- A Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical) or Diploma in Automobile Engineering from the Technical Examination Board, a recognized university established under a Central or State Act, or an institution deemed to be a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
- Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.

Citizenship Requirement:-
A candidate must either be a citizen of India or possess the nationality specified under Rule-7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967
Salary
- For the first five years, selected candidates will be appointed on a fixed monthly pay of Rs. 49,600/-, along with other benefits as per the relevant Finance Department resolutions.
- After five years, subject to satisfactory performance, candidates will be placed in the regular pay scale of Level-7 (Rs. 39,900 to Rs. 1,26,600) as per the 7th Pay Commission, subject to the outcome of pending SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012 before the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

Important points about the examination:
- The exam consists of a total of 210 questions (90 in Part-A and 120 in Part-B) to be completed in a combined duration of 3 hours (180 minutes).
- Negative marking applies: for every wrong answer, 1/4th of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted.
- A provisional answer key will be published after the exam, followed by a final answer key after considering objections raised by candidates.
- Separate minimum qualifying standards of 40% apply to both Part-A and Part-B for all categories of candidates.
