BSSC Laboratory Assistant Exam Scheme 2025

The preliminary examination will be objective type multiple choice type questions. Through the preliminary examination, candidates equal to 05 (five) times the number of category wise available vacancies will be selected for the main examination. A separate advertisement will be published by the Commission for the main examination.

The total number of questions will be 150. For Each correct answer will be given 04 Marks and for each wrong answer will be deducted 01 mark. The duration of the exam will be 02 hours. The preliminary exam will be in both Hindi / English languages. If there is any difference between the Hindi and English question papers, only the English questions will be valid.

The preliminary examination will have one paper on General Knowledge consisting of the following subjects:-

(a) General Studies – 35 questions.

(b) Science – 75 questions.

(c) Quantitative Aptitude/Reasoning – 40 questions.

The preliminary exam syllabus is as follows:-

Section (A) General Studies:- The questions here will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general knowledge of the environment around him and his ability to test their application in society. Questions relating to knowledge of current affairs and matters such as keen observation of day-to-day happenings and scientific approach towards them will also be included, which any educated person is expected to be aware of. In this, questions can be asked specifically related to Bihar, India and its neighboring countries.

(i) Current Affairs:- Scientific advancements, National/International Awards, Indian Languages, Books, Scripts, Capitals, Currency, Sports-Players, Important Events.

(ii) India and its Neighbouring Countries:- History of neighbouring countries, History of India, Culture, Geography, Economic Scenario, Freedom Movement, Salient Features of Indian Agriculture and Natural Resources, Constitution and Polity of India, Political System of the Country, Panchayati Raj, Community Development, Five Year Plan and Contribution of Bihar in National Movement.

Section (B) Science:- Questions of Science will be as per the syllabus of Intermediate (10+2).

(i) Quantitative Aptitude– Questions related to Number System, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions, Interrelationship between Numbers, Basic Arithmetical Operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, and Profit and Loss.

(ii) Mental Ability Test:- In this both verbal and non-verbal type of questions can be asked. In this component as many questions as possible can be asked related to the following:- analogy, similarity and difference, space imagination, problem solving, Analysis, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Numerical Reasoning, Numerical Number Series, Code Writing and Code Interpretation.
